People Tree Fair Trade Bar Chocolate, Bitter Pomegranate

People Tree, the fair-trade company, makes a line of chocolates marked “vegie.” According to the product pages, the “product contains dairy” warning means (from autotranslate): “* Dairy products are not used as the main ingredient of “Veggie Chocolate Line”. However, the same equipment is used to manufacture some of the raw materials that contain milk components, and it is difficult to completely remove them due to the manufacturing process, so we are alerting people with food allergies.”

They can be purchased at some Natural Lawson convenience stores (not regular Lawson), at the People Tree shop in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo, in health food stores and supermarkets, and on the People Tree website.

Note: Certain varieties of the People Tree chocolate are seasonal and may not be available outside of Autumn-Winter.
